Monique Prinsloo - Monotypes

In her artistic practice, Monique has increasingly become more drawn to the human form. Moving away from the methodical process of sketching from life, she has taken on a more swift, yet earnest approach by translating memory impressions into monotype prints. By embracing the process of painting the image to the surface more freely and more spontaneously, it has subtly shifted her attention away from the reality of what she sees and in its place, towards an imagined reality of figurative representation. There is a delicate balance and richness in the loss of detail; each print successfully translated as a single, evocative impression of the figurative form
